From Cliche to Crazy

Here is crazy Hannah, but she sure is a great help!

I thought this picture was perfect! So cliche!

I think the pictures speak for themselves!

Hannah's Baptism Day

Turning 8 is a big deal in our church. It is the age of accountability. Hannah is now old enough that we know she knows right from wrong, and she is capable of making right choices and being accountable for those choices. We are so happy that she chose to be baptized and become a member of Jesus Christ's church...The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Here she is with her dad, getting ready for her dunk.

Here she is after in her new dress she picked out for her baptism, both her dress and soul are clean and white.

We sure love our Hannah banana

Our "little" family

All the family that was able to attend.
Hannah was so blessed to be able to have her Grandpa and Grandma Overton and Aunt Trudy come out for her baptism.
Matt asked her, right after she was baptized, how she felt. Hannah replied " I feel just great dad, just great"!

Hannah's Birthday Celebration

Hannah's 8th birthday was a blast!

She got to invite a few friends over Saturday morning for a pajama/movie party. We had a brunch complete with doughnuts instead of cake.
Hannah wanted a dragon cake...this is what I came up with

Make a wish Hannah...!

The coveted DS. She has wanted one for so long now, and was so excited that she got one for her birthday. It was even pink like she wanted!
She had a great 8th birthday!

My Birthday and Mother's Day...

Here is My Birthday and Mother's day combined. We didn't do much for my birthday, just kept it real low key!
Look at the lovely Red Velvet cake. It was so yum. ( Matt didn't make it, but he did some excellent buying at the bakery) As always, Matt picks out some lovely flowers. I love getting flowers!

My biggest surprise was this...a new Yamaha digital piano. We move too much for me to mess around with a real piano. So we have been using a keyboard I got 8 years ago. The girls do well with it, but we wanted something that sounded and felt more like a real piano, and this one delivers! It has weighted keys that feel like a baby grand, and the tone is lovely.
Someday, when we are settled I will have a baby grand, but until then...this piano is a nice fit.

my mother's day flowers...so pretty!

Matt also got me some gourmet chocolate covered strawberries...soo good!

Here is the front of my Mother's day card...notice the cargo ship...

now read the caption...isn't it the perfect mother's day card?

It was a good day, complete with an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbin's shaped like a purse.

5 years ago today...

I woke up early and arrived at the hospital at 6am to have labor induced. I was 39 weeks pregnant and ready to have this little munchkin out. After 4 hours of labor and my easiest delivery out of all my kids, Corinne Cate ( or Cora to all who know her) made her debut in the world.
Taking after the Jeppson side, Cora was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 19 inches long of pure beauty.
Don't you just want to squish and kiss those cheeks.

She took after her big sister, Anya, and was very thoughtful and studious as a baby.

Her first birthday. The cake was a winner!

By the time Cora was a month old, our moving adventures had begun. We drove from Utah to Virgina, and lived there for the summer. From Virginia we moved and drove to Texas...and the moving adventures continue as she grows up. She has always been good on the move and loves to travel. She frequently asks us where we are going "next week".
They grow up so fast! The day before her birthday, Cora kept asking me..."mom, are you going to be happy or sad on my birthday?" I told her that I was happy it was her birthday and such a special day...but very sad that my baby girl was 5 and growing up. She looked at me all exasperated and replied " mom, I just can't stop growing". Still, all the same, sometimes I would like to freeze time and keep my babies small...for just a bit longer!
Happy Birthday baby girl...we are sure glad to have your sweetness in our family!

Easter 2010

Easter! Easter was pretty good for us this year. First off, the fun stuff...We died Easter eggs Saturday night. The kids had a blast with this as usual...and as usual the eggs don't turn out quite like the picture on the box shows, but what does?
Dying away.

Splattering the died eggs with glittery paints

5 little Easter baskets waiting to be opened

The joy of having a surprise waiting for them in the morning. My kids love Easter almost as much as Christmas!

The boys' first Easter baskets were a success. Jack is curious and wants to look inside his, and Hunter just wants to eat his. I did put an egg filled with Hershey kisses inside their baskets, and yes I still have the candy saved...waiting for when they can eat it!

Hunter's first Easter egg hunt

Jack's first Easter egg hunt

The girls scrambling to find the eggs. I was very generous this year and the girls each got to find 20 eggs each. It made it hard for Matt, because really there aren't that many places in our small, bare backyard to hide 60 eggs. We did the egg hunt in between general conference sessions, and it was the perfect thing to get the girls wiggles and jiggles out. Easter should be on Conference Sunday every year!

It was a big day Easter Sunday for the L.D.S. faith. General Conference was held that same day, so we watched our religious services on TV and got to hear from our Prophet which made a special day even more special. Because we didn't go to church on Easter Sunday, I made the kids dress up for Easter the Sunday after. Here is the photo, they all look so great!
I love Easter, and the renewal and rebirth it symbolizes. I hope everyone had a great day reflecting on our Savior's life.
