Entryway finished!

Soon after all our stuff arrived and we had unpacked and settled in, I had posted a bunch of before and after pictures of each room.  I never did an after picture for our entryway, because it just got finished this past week.  Yes, a long time coming.  I had found this awesome,  custom built, bench at an antique shop I went too.  I love the color and rustic look of the bench, and I wanted a shelf that would coordinate and compliment my awesome bench!  I searched and searched, and could find nothing I liked.  I found a few online, but shipping was outragious...all the other's I found in stores were either cheap looking or the color didn't go well with what I had.  So, after much thought and searching, Matt and I decided to have one built.  We went to a local guy who custom makes furniture.  He does it old school, all wood joining and studs, no nails...just like my bench was made...the old way.  I gave him pictures of my bench, pictures of shelfs I had seen online that I liked, and let him keep a drawer from my bench so he could match the stain as best he could.   He had to make up a "new" recipe for the stain he used, and below is what he came up with.  We were just able to have the house master come this past week to hang it, I love it.  I think they both go very well for each other.  Thomas even put 5 double hooks on it for me :)

So, I when I come home to the states, I will get to bring some handmade German pieces with me.
So Awesome!

I love both pieces. The rustic look has become one of my favorite types of design. I can't wait to have an actual house that has a real entryway :)

Looks beautiful. Thomas did a great job. He built our huge TV hutch for us. Love the Germay furniture! (Get as much as you can:)

I can't even keep up with all your posts--you guys have been keeping busy and taking advantage of the opportunities of being over there for sure! I love reading about your adventures. And I love the bench and shelf. Perfect way to come into a home!

Thanks everyone, I love them! Kelly, you make me laugh :) I had a few spare minutes so I decided to update my blog. I am trying to be more consistent...but sometimes it is hard to stop the "blog dump" habit! I love keeping up with you guys too!
