Birthday Extravaganza

Yesterday was my 31st birthday. It was a great day, so many people went out of their way to make it special! I received many cards, treats and well wishes on my special day.
Thank you to all of you!

Someone very sneaky decorated my door first thing in the morning. What a fun surprise to find. The "Birthday Heart Caper" also left some delicious dehydrated Mangos as a gift, knowing how much I love Mangos. Thanks J. , you know it was you!!
A week ago Matt bought me this beautiful wicker bench for my front porch. I had been wanting one for awhile, and he finally got it for me. I love it, now I can sit on my porch and watch the kids play at the park, it's perfect! It was probably more then he wanted to spend, and I was totally expecting it to be my "birthday present". Little did I know...Matt is a wonderful, special occasion, gift giver type guy. He likes to make special days really special. So on my Birthday, he surprised me by taking a half day off work and coming home early with roses. Sigh...! He then was going to bake me a cake, but found a beautiful red velvet (my favorite) cake in the bakery. He decided to go for that one, because it was prettier then one he could bake...even though it would have been made with love. He is so funny! The cake, no matter where it came from, was delicious! I even had a slice for breakfast (one of my favorite post-birthday traditions).
You can see from the picture, that the bench was not the only gift he got me. Every year he tells me " honey, I am sorry, but I didn't really go all out for you birthday this year". Yeah right! Roses, cake, dinner out at Olive Garden, and he even went to Baskin Robbins and bought pints of my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream, then he had four wrapped gifts for me. I call that going "all out" babe!! He does love to spoil me!

Inside the big wrapped box was a new sauce pan, since I have killed a couple of pots I really needed a new one. Matt hates giving "practical" gifts, so I was surprised to find he gave me cookware. Low and behold inside the box was a folded piece of paper redeemable for a maternity wardrobe shopping trip. I thought that was sweet, he wanted to make the practical a little more impractical!
By far, my favorite gift (like my girls), is having Matt home this year to celebrate with me. He hasn't been home for my birthday since I turned 28; so it was so sweet, sweet, sweet to have my lover home with me for my birthday! It was a great day.

So good to hear from you! Congrats on the babies! I have to admit I am glad that I am just having 1. I think that twins might put me over the edge. Your family is cute. I will have to follow your baby chronicles. Cute idea!
