The Belly Chronicles: edition 1; For The Record

This is a picture of a sign that you will see in many areas on Army Posts. They are at the grocery stores, the post office, pretty much anywhere there is a public parking lot. I will be able to partake of these choice parking spaces for the foreseeable future. Most of you we have told, but for those of you we haven't...WE'RE PREGNANT! I am not too far along, a little over 8 weeks. Our due date is October 22,2009. It has been a long journey to get to this pregnancy. Our youngest will be 4 1/2 years old by the time this new little bundle arrives. We had always sort of talked about adding a fourth child to our family, but I had expected it would happen a lot sooner! Well Matt's deployment sort of put a damper on that, being separated from each other for 15 months doesn't help with conceiving! Then he came home and we were moving and life was chaotic, so we didn't really talk about it or plan anything. We were just enjoying being "us" again.

Sometimes when no real goal is set, nature takes over and wonderful blessings occur. So "for the record", I know most of you are wondering...! We did NOT conceive to try for a boy. That is the question we get asked most, since we have three girls. We love our girls, and would not have it any other way! In fact, during the time we were toying with the idea of having another, I had warned Matt that we would probably have another girl. We are really good at making baby girls. Matt replied "I love my girls, I could have another one". Matt and I had always agreed that trying for a certain gender is ridiculous, since you aren't guaranteed that gender in the first place. I also felt like that puts so much un-needed pressure on the poor babe (we tried for a girl...but got you, a boy, instead...poor kid!!!). So, Matt and I agreed that if we were to have another child, we would go into it with no expectations and love and accept whatever the Lord blesses us with. We believe that every child is a blessing, miracle, and a bundle of joy. We won't deny that having a boy would be wonderful, although I am still not sure we would know what to do with one! However, we feel that having another girl would be wonderful too.

We will keep you updated monthly on "The Belly Chronicles", but I will not be posting any pictures of a "baby bump" until it is obvious that it IS a "baby bump". I have to many "bumps" left over from the girls for it to be obvious until well in the pregnancy! We are excited to get to know this knew little person, and we are already totally in love with our little caboose (a.k.a. baby boose)!

Yes, we will probably find out. Matt likes to know, and it makes the little bug seem more like a little person. Makes it more real, you know. I toyed with idea of not finding out, I always wanted to do it once. since this is most likely our last, I thought now is my chance. But I was vetoed big time by my whole family on that one!
